I have one friend that uses these and I know her tank's water gets a bit colored by these but she swears by them for health reasons.

All my bettas have IAL in their tanks. I either break them up, or put them in whole. Leaves floating at the surface make for a great nesting site. My wild bettas show much better colouration and behaviour when I keep their water dark. I find it really brings out the natural iridescence on these fish.
