I have one friend that uses these and I know her tank's water gets a bit colored by these but she swears by them for health reasons.

I use IAL in all of my tanks and my fish love it. I often find them curled up near the leaves or building bubble nests around them. Tannins are really good for bettas.

I buy mine from a US seller on Ebay. Never had a problem.
