The water in my Betta's bowl is pretty cold. I've got him by my desk lamp (Which tends to get very hot, the light is around 6 inches away from the bowl) and a hot water bottle. I'm getting him a tank in an hour or so (5 gallon).
I have AquaSafe water conditioner. It's not specifically for Betta fish though.
Can I use this when I do the water for his new tank, or should I buy some of the conditioner that is specific for Bettas?
I'm new to Bettas (He was a spur of the moment fish that I got on Saturday- at my cousin's wedding reception they had them in fish bowls as centerpieces and were asking for homes so I took one with my parent's permission) and I'd like to make his life as good as possible. I already know what I'm getting for him (Tank, gravel, plants, etc.) but I wanted to know if I should get the conditioner specific for Bettas while I'm at the store.
Thank you!
EDIT: I'll just give you a list of stuff I'm getting so that you don't lecture me on what to get:
Tank (5 gallon)
Gravel
Fake plants (I'll get silk ones, the problem with live ones from the aquatic animals store is they tend to have lots of snails which causes problems in the tank)
Filter (I'm going to ask about a light filter that will work for a Betta)
Heater
Food (Pellets and then some frozen bloodworms to treat him every so often)
Some places for him to hide (I'll check them for sharp edges, I don't want his pretty fins to be torn up)
And then, if necessary, a water conditioner specifically for Betta fish (I'll probably end up getting it anyways but you know....)
