I picked up this little boy yesterday.
Hes so tiny and cute, but the more i think about it, he doesnt look like your average double tail betta. Hes just so small, and his tail shape isnt anything like my other double tail, Sokka.

Hes currently unnamed..iv youve got a non-generic, but nice and easy to pronounce name as a suggestion, it would be nice. i cant think of anything.

I have suspicions that he may be a mislabeled doubletail plakat. the fin comparison matches a LOT more to this kind, but it doesnt hurt to ask for everyone elses opinions about it as well.

Here he is

this is my old man, Sokka, for comparison.

Opinions?
Is he just a REALLY small regular doubletail, or no?
only time will tell i suppose, if his fins grow out....but i cant help but feel that he may be a doubletail plakat, he looks nearly identical to those ive seen on google.

He is a double tail, mostly. Most likely one parent was double tail and one wasn't, so while the split doesn't extend fully to his body, he is a double tail.
Btw sokka is a double rose tail

well, no matter what he is, ill always love that little cutie c:
I normally dont buy bettas that are the same color as ones i have or had, but the little guy was just watching me the whole time i was looking at the fish. He was just too cute to resist, and i was looking for a smaller betta anyway, he fit perfectly.

and hmm double rosetail, eh?
no wonder Sokka is such a lazy butt. hes got way too much finnage to deal with.
wow that must really suck for him, i feel bad :c
he kinda just flops over when hes not swimming, because of those massive fins.
He was a lot smaller than that when i first bought him though, which was over a year ago.

D'awww, based on that sokka is definitely rose tail. Don't feel bad about it, just make sure he has a floating tube ^^

dont have a tube, but he has one of those betta hammocks...
he doesnt reallu use it that much though.
he does like to wiggle himself between the leaves of his plant and rest there, hes a litle weirdo.

he lives at my moms, so I only see him once a week or so, but he remembers who his mom is. perks up every time im there.
my mom begged me for him, I finally gave in to shut her up.
I miss my little sokka, but I see him enough and i keep his tank clean so its not so bad.

.....I'm actually really wondering if my boy Callisto is a double rosetail as well. Comparing fins is difficult since he was such a big biter when I first got him. Now his fins have healed, and THEN SOME.

But yeah - the boy you pictured is definitely a doubletail as Sayla said. You can see where his tail is *starting* to separate toward the middle end of the tail, and his top (dorsal) goes about the same distance up the body as his bottom (anal) fin.

yeah I saw the tiny split, but man hes just so tiny, he looks like a doubletail plakat x3
knew he was a double, just wasnt sure if he was a regular or a plakat.

I feel bad for rosetails. they have so much finnage that its hard to move...
being confirmed as a double rose, I totally understand why sokka just lays around a lot. probably exhausting enough just to swim around, poor old man.
he never bit his fins though.
