I want to buy at least 4 females to keep company to Sharky..my male halfmoon plakat betta....is that wise? Is the male going to fight them? I was thinking of getting other fish but if I can keep females bettas with Sharky so he can feel like the king of the jungle:notworthy: that would be awesome!

Oh yeah I have a 10 gallon tank
Plain and simple, don't do it unless you want dead fish. Females and males should never be housed together unless you are experienced (I mean years and years with Bettas) and you can get docile spawn siblings that are used to living together in a much much bigger tank than 10g. Your Sharky will be perfectly happy in his own tank, and you're better off with 5-6 females in your 10g.

Oh ok :) Thats cool...was just afraid Sharky would get lonely and bored but that's fine :)
What size tank is he in? You could always get a 5g or 10g and divide it and get another male for the other side :) That would give him company. But as for male/female.. only if you're breeding and even that can turn nasty.
Bettas don't really get lonely. They are by nature an aggressive and territorial fish. Tankmates are usually something that is for the benefit of the owner rather than the betta. I can guarantee Sharky couldn't care either way.
^^ This is true.. but I'm a known pusher for more Bettas ;-)
