Plain and simple, don't do it unless you want dead fish. Females and males should never be housed together unless you are experienced (I mean years and years with Bettas) and you can get docile spawn siblings that are used to living together in a much much bigger tank than 10g. Your Sharky will be perfectly happy in his own tank, and you're better off with 5-6 females in your 10g.

What size tank is he in? You could always get a 5g or 10g and divide it and get another male for the other side :) That would give him company. But as for male/female.. only if you're breeding and even that can turn nasty.
