There is a thin cloudy film on my water. It's a 10 gallon divided in two. There are currently a male and female betta on each side. I bleached & soaked my tank & all the décor in there three times but it came back. My fish are acting normally and don't seem to be affected. One male even blew a nest. I have well water that's a bit hard. I've tried 3 different conditioners to soften it to no avail. I'm placing them in separate jars with water from a different source today. Any ideas on what this is?

It sounds like it is just bio film which is completely normal in low current betta tanks with nothing disturbing the surface tension. Nothing to worry about.

yup just bio film it wont hurt them in any way. its normal and in most of my tanks with sponge filters

It's normal and safe. Mine goes away for a couple of days after a partial water change, but always returns. If you really don't like it, some say you can run a paper towel over the surface to get it off. I don't really see the need for it, though.
