What size is your tank? 10 gal split
What temperature is your tank? 80
Does your tank have a filter? Yes, fuval
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? No
Is your tank heated? Yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? Ghost shrimp and a betta tank mate on the other side of the divider.
Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Omega 1, but thinking I need to switch to the smaller pellets. He is still kind of small.
How often do you feed your betta fish? My other Bettas I feed twice a day 3 pellets each with a fast day.
Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? Twice a week since my other Bettas have über delicate fins and keep getting them shredded or eat themselves.
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 50%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Stress coat

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? I just got him. I have been eying him for close to a month now. His water of course just got progressively worse and had the brown cloudy crap going on. I noticed that when he was in his cup, he swam around at the top like when I've seen fish suffocate to death. He swims just fine, but any time he comes up to the air he does this bobbing around the surface as if someone was choking him. Other than that he seems like a decently healthy fish. Swims fine, still clamped fins, but that's to be expected for a bit.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? I didn't notice him doing it before in the cup.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Yesterday when I bought him.
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?nope unless stream coat counts. I have never hear of this so I have no idea.
