Also, I find it interesting that your snail gets out and then comes back to the tank (possibly more interesting than is warranted?). Do you ever figure out where he goes?
Isn't that weird? I've talked to a couple of people that also have snails and none of them have ever heard of a snail getting out. But I googled and apparently they can live for up to 7 days without water
So far:
I have found him once by stepping on him
once I found him about halfway across the dining room chugging along under the table.
and once ( a few days ago) I just happened to glance over and notice him climbing up the outside of the tank to get back in.
No idea where he goes, or why. The longest he's gone missing is 2 days (like I noticed him gone when I fed the fish around 7pm and he was gone all the next day, still not there at night feeding - but was back the following morning when I got up and turned the light on)
I was worried about him at first - because some people have said bettas will eat snails, but Kong doesnt nip at him at all. Mini did, so that why she was alone on her side of the tank (before she got sick, when she was in the 5). Kong just swims up to him and gives him the "look" like he's saying. "We're good for now, but if you try to eat my food - I am going to eat YOU". He never nips though. He's a good boy. LOL Anyway, now I worry about him getting out. I have 2 pugs and if one of them notices the big black thing moving across the floor they will see if it tastes good. They eat ANYTHING. I noticed when he came back this time - his "antenna" things are tiny, like they fell off. They're not gone, just before they were crazy long and now they are tiny. I need to google that. I think either something got him, or maybe he got into bug spray? We have ORKIN and he sprays really well right over there by that sliding glass door. So that's another issue to worry about with him. Stupid snail.
