Yikes, that isn't good :(

Go ahead and lets give him some AQ salt to prevent any infection from happening in his wounds.. 1 tsp per gallon, dissolved prior to adding it in with him, daily 100% water changes for the next 3-5 days (don't forget water conditioner). That will keep his wounds clean and should prevent any bacteria from causing trouble for him.
Bettas are pretty resilient when it comes to healing from wounds- so after the salt treatment, just keep up with the weekly water changes and that should be enough to help him heal up.. you can also up it with a small added one during the week to make sure the water stays a tad bit cleaner.

Had to look it up on the MT Gravatt Pet City site.. then look up the salts used, and from what I gather, no.. it's not the same. What you have is for fish that like salt, or to start up a tank.. something like that. The deioniser I believe is to make the tap water safe.. sort of like reverse osmosis? But I can be wrong.. didn't delve that deep into it once I knew it wasn't the same.

BUT! I did find some AQ salt that they sell there.. API AQ salt

IMO it's pricey, but it lasts forever and it's good to have around..
