The 'fry feeding sticky' said it was too old to post reply, so here i am starting a new thread - hope its okay :D

Should i take some of the plant roots out of the koi pond b4 it freezes over?

If I keep plant parts from the pond alive in the house all winter, could fry feed from the organisms on the roots if i do decide to try and let them have babies? I already have java moss and duck weed in all my aquariums, would that help feed them too?

you're going to need some micro worms and brine shrimp eggs to hatch out too, you can't just rely on the organisms in the plant roots. you can also make your own green water and that will feed them as well, but the thing is for fry to grow big and fast and they need lots of variety.

Does anyone know where I can order some microworm cultures? Nothing around me has them.

Some of the members here might be selling cultures and if not there's tons of cultures to get on aquabid and ebay. I got my cultures from kwaquatics on aquabid and they were very good, fast growing cultures. I also got cultures from someone else but I can't remember the name.. fishguy or something like that.

You need more than microorganisms to feed fry. Infusoria will only feed fry for the first two weeks at most, after that you really need more substantial foods like walter worms, chopped grindal worms, BBS, daphnia, etc.

And though the fry foods topic is a little old I'm still subscribed to it so anyone can always post a question there. You can also always PM me questions as well.
