Guppy will be moving out of his hospital tank into a new home in the morning.

I wanted to share his new redesigned tank...

That's the old tank on top, the new one bellow.

This is a closeup of the new tank:

I added a background, put the heater in the gravel at the bottom so it is out of sight and took all the color specs out of the gravel. I am so excited, I hope he likes it.

My cat Minou is so excited she can barely contain herself.

Very pretty! What size is the new tank? It looks huge compared to his old one. I'm sure he's gonna love it!

It is the same size. Just closer to the camera. Only a 2.5 gallon but he is an only fish and since he came from a half gallon, he thinks its huge. When I first put him in he freaked out.

Thanks. She is big, especially for a girl. We tend to spoil our pets a little.

This morning guppy moved into his new home. He spent a while exploring, I think he likes it.

I love your tank. Are you going to do 1-50 and 1-100% water changes like a lot of people recommending?

Yes, I am planning on every Wednesday a 50% and every Sunday a 100%.

You know... It never dawned on my you could put the heater under the gravel.. Is it a normal heater or one of those Betta bowl heaters you have to have under the gravel?

I love the tank, it's so pretty. I have to get one like that for one of my HMs, his fins are far too big for his little body and has trouble swimming right in larger tanks.

Your cat is so cute too. I love kitties <3

It's a Hydor THEO Submersible Aquarium Heater 25W UL - I got it on amazon.

It works great but during his ick treatment it would not get the tank above 83F... so i would not recommend it for a larger tank. It is not fully submerged though, but it is one of the installation suggestions on the box. adjusting it is a little harder but it isn't like I need to do that too often.

I hate looking at gear so I try to camouflage or hide it as much as possible.

Nice tank!!!! Did you hold onto the colored bits?

That's also a wonderful idea to hide the heater down in the gravel!!!!! Something so simple, and it makes something so bulky blend into the tank so well

Every time I get an empty tank I end up filling it lately and I go out and buy another for a hospital tank... and it gets filled..... My name is Twilight Storm and i'm addicted to Bettas.....

I understand Twilight... it is taking all my willpower to not get another fish for the hospital tank. I think my cat and my husband would throw me out of the house if I did.. in that order! LOL

oh, yes I do still have the colored bits... that took much longer than I expected.

I was thinking if you had enough colored bits you can stick them in a glass mini prep bowl or something like that then place that in the tank too with a plant in it

Not sure how that would look, but it would be something to do with the extra rocks. I can imagine it took quite a while to pick through them all.

I am not seeing the cloudiness you spoke of in the other thread...?

The last picture with Guppy in the tank with him recflected in the glass makes him look like an ornament....

pssst... *looks around shiftily* you can always tell your cat and husband Guppy was a girl... yeah yeah, and "she" had a baby... Yeah... that's what it is... You had to put guppys baby in the other tank.....:lol: Tell them it just happened sudden-like... like RIGHT after you got back from the store... it was amazing.... Then they couldn't possibly kick you out... or make you get rid of Guppy's baby... *whistles innocently*

Love that Twilight... I might have to use that one day. I am fairly sure that my husband will be easier to convince than my cat.

The cloudy water is better today. I was told before it is a bacteria bloom and goes away after a few days, just in time for new water! LOL

It is sometimes hard to maintain balance in such a small tank.

BTW, I added a purple plant in the corner where the heater cord is, and he wanted one of the plants moved away from the glass so he could get behind it, so the design is evolving. I will post a photo soon.
