Hello, everyone! My name is Lauren and I'm a new breeder in Fairbanks, Alaska. We've had 5 successful spawns since we started 2 years ago. Starting with petstore varietals to get the hang of it, we finally decided to spend the big bucks on a brother/sister pair from Betty Splendens in Switzerland. For some reason, the boy didn't want a thing to do with his sister... so we found another gorgeous boy from a friend and bred them. This gave me my most recent batch, but I still think I'ma fall back into the Giant Crowntail we did with the batch before. My display pic is one of my boys from the Giant CT batch. Just thought I'd stop in and say "HAI!" If anyone else is in Alaska and wants a fish... lemme know. We haven't been setup for shipping yet, so we can only deal locally. Sorry. Sometime in the near future I may be able to offer shipping outside the state.

Oh... and a couple of my fave photos from before my camera broke. This was the first attempt at breeding with store-bought Buddy & Bella.

My first attempt had only 3 survive past the first month, hence why you see Buddy hanging out with one of his kids. It's a great way to show people the size of fry against a regular-sized Betta. Which reminds me...

This was how big they were at exactly 1 month. As you see, not very big. I've since figured out how to get them to grow bigger, faster. My "kids" are usually ready to go at about 4 months.

Yea, I work at a small-business liquor store where most of our business is repeat customers and Barrow shipments. Almost all my customers have heard my breeding stories. I feel sorry for them. Prolly tired of me harassing them to take home some of my fishies. Lol

Cool. My co workers thought I was nuts because I had 23 bettas in a tiny 300 SQ ft. apartment (it always annoyed me that they had the nerve to charge $700/mo for it, since it was a POS in the ghetto or it would be if fairbanks had a ghetto). One coworker said she wanted one, so I went to walmart and picked up a red CT and was going to give it to her when I left. I even named him Mr Magic Mushroom..in honor of that hippie store (I always called it Mr Magic 'shrooms instead of Mr Rock N Roll). I never did give her the fish, which I'm kind of glad since he was only 1/23 to make it to NY alive. Plus she was a pretty hard core alcholic and I didn't really trust her to care for a fish, especially one of my fish.
