Hey! I'm new to the world of fish keeping, and I have just picked up a betta! He's a little red guy with a blue stripe on his top fin. His name is Tycho. I did some research before I bought him; letting his container float in the tank before letting him out, betta pellets, water treatment drops, the type of plants they like to hide in/rest on, etc. Unfortunately, I did not do quite enough research; poor little guy is in a 1/2 gallon tank with no heater! I am in the process of acquiring a two-gallon tank, filter, and heater, so this mistake shall be rectified!
Anyway, Tycho is a shy little guy. He likes to hide behind his plant a lot, especially when I come into the room. He's a bit lethargic, but that's to be expected with no heater. He doesn't follow my finger yet, but he tends to stare at me when I sit in my chair and read.
