I bought a betta fish (I'm not a new keeper...I have 4...that includes the new one, who I guess took in the empty space of my first one that passed away...) from petsmart...His name is bluemoon. He was labeled as a halfmoon, but his fins don't spread out that much like the one's I usually see. I have a halfmoon and his fins spread out much more.

Is he a halfmoon? Or a butterfly...

He's pretty! He looks like a Delta. You'll have to get him to flare to find out. A Halfmoon's tail will be a perfect D shape. Pet stores will often label Deltas/Super Deltas Halfmoons. He looks like a butterfly though I am not sure... I have 4 Bettas too.

is looks like a delta or halfmoon. some tri-color because you could see three shades of black on his caudal fin. he could be a black melano, ask a professional haha

Far from a melano and FAR from a halfmoon. But he looks TINY so he may grow up to be a HM.

He looks like a black lace to me. I would say BF but it's defined enough for me to really call him that. Regardless he's a lucky find

haha He's super energetic and he is young...I put my finger on the glass and he already knew i'd give him a piece of food for it, he stopped and poofed up and then turned his head to look at me like "well? Are you going to give it to me or what?"

Yea, there was one there today, that was really pretty. It was a beautiful black blue and white, with leapard print and the bettas colors were either patched for marbled...something like that. It was the prettiest i've ever seen. It's weird because there is a dragon scale there that hasn't been taken up since last time I went (he was white and pink/red). The Petsmart here has never had bettas like that before...well I haven't seen them.
