My betta just dug a hole in the moss and substrate under my Java fern… Now he is sitting there with his head in the ground. He has never done this before.

My tank is heavily planted and has a giant piece of driftwood full of holes to hide in…

Why is he doing this? Is something wrong? Any advice on what I should do?

I attached some pics…. but all you can really see is tail sticking out.

If I were you I'd take my finger and stick it in the tank and barely touch him to make sure he's not stuck. If he is stuck he could drown because he can't get to the surface for air. If he is stuck try your best to get him out with harming him. Good luck!!

If I were you I wouldn't use my finger. I would use a well-washed out skewer instead considering the amount of bacteria on a finger.
