Your welcome :)
I would suggest trying the warm clean water first. And only use the medicine if you really need it.

ok, I will do that. When I re-did the tanks, they all got 100% water changes. The temp is at 78..think I should raise it to 80? How long should I wait to see if his tail improves before using the meds? Also, he likes to sit at the top of the tank where the slots in front of the filter are. Maybe I should put a piece of sponge in front of it or something? I noticed Marshawns are a bit frayed too, but he doesn't sit by the slots in his tank. I really think it may have been caused by the icky junk in the gravel.

Fins do take a little while to heal, I would say unless you see his tail getting even worse or theres no clearly obvious signs of improvement on his tail after 1 1/2 to 2 weeks then I would try the medicine. As for the temp, I don't think its nescerely nessecary to raise the temp. Im not really sure if temp help fin rot or fin injuries like this but you can try if you want, it might help. Just keep an eye on him while you do it and make sure he isn't stressed out.
