Hi all. I'm probably overracting but I just lost a betta last night and I dont want to lose my second one. I noticed that he has a cut on his head. Its kind of peachy pink and shiny, and looks like he lost a few scales.... Hes swimming fine, he just seems to be breathing a bit faster....I dont know what it is, but i really dont want to lose him.

currently hes in a 14 gallon, with 80 degree temperature. Please let me know! ill try to post a picture as soon as i can!

If he's swimming fine, my preliminary is that he's okay. Just don't bug him too much, especially if he's new.

Most likely he headbutted something and lost a few scales- it happens.
Just keep an eye on him to make sure it doesn't get infected.
Would be idea to do weekly water changes- 25-50% a week for that size, with siphoning of the substrate regularly. Doing the recommended water changes should help in keeping his wound clean.
Don't add in any salt or medication as the corys would have a hard time with them, maybe even deadly.
At this point, just do the weekly water changes (continuously, as you should do weekly water changes) and that should be enough to keep him clean and it will heal up on it's own.

But a picture will verify it is just missing scales, and not some underlying illness.
