Hi everybody! :) I have a Betta named Finley that i have had for 2 years. He is in a 2 gal tank and i will be upgrading him to a 3 gal soon. I live in apt so this is all i am able to have due to limited space. I went on 2 week vacation 2 months ago and had a friend feed and do partial water changes 3 times a week, but i dont think she did them correctly because for the past couple months Finley has had fin problems. I also noticed yellow or gold coloring on his head, fins and some spots on body about a week ago. I think he got fin melt because his fins started getting pointy and the top one looks like a dread lock now. I treated him for fin melt with "Life Support" but there is permanent damage. :-( I am treating him for Velvet now with Quick Cure but dont want to medicate him if it isn't Velvet. He has been lethargic and swims around slow and after 4 days of Quick Cure he seems to have a little more energy and life to him. but he looks terrible compared to what he used to look like. He even has a red stripe across his gills. Can someone tell me if it looks like Velvet disease? I dont see tiny gold specks or dust , I just see gold metallic color here and there. I appreciate ANY advice on if it is Velvet and also was wondering how long it takes to start seeing the gold color go away?? After 4 days of being medicated i really dont see it going away. :-( I have included 2 pictures.

Thank you for your reply! :) I have been told and also read by many sources that spring water is safe, I have had him in it for 2 years and hes been ok. I buy the spring water in the gallon jugs in the store because my tap water is well water that i dont trust. I dont drink it due to too much sulfer and too much sodium, our dog and cat wont even drink it. I have read that spring water is "soft water not hard water which is what Bettas prefer. I dont have access to regular tap/ city water unfortunately. I use Tetra Betta Safe water conditioner and API stress coat during water changes.

Keep using this.

API stress coat
I do not use or recommend any product with Aloe Vera in it.

Understood.

I have read that spring water is "soft water not hard water
Not always the case, Sometimes " Spring water" is no more than slightly filtered tap water, A number of companies have been caught doing that.

I hear great things about Poland spring water.
