Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Tail went from round ( his crons have been gone for a long time ) with one split that was healing.. to a ragged mess that has some discoloration.. in a matter of hours literally like and hour and a half I firstt noticed it.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? it hasnt, he isnt clamping or anything, just exploring..
When did you start noticing the symptoms? a few hours ago, but it keeps getting worse
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? I havent..
Does your fish have any history of being ill? He had fin rot a month or 2 ago, but ti cleared up and his tail was healing well.
How old is your fish (approximately)? I got him in december an he was pretty small..

The only thing I can think of is him biting it... but I havne't seen him do it... Maybe the filter intake sucked him up? I am going to cover the intake with a panty hose.. just incase...

I don't think it's fin rot...he is a tail-biter, oh my! D: He must be a little upset about being moved, but he will adjust, I'm sure. If you can find a away to distract him from shredding his tail even more that would be good~

What would you suggest? I turned off the tank light , since maybe that was stressing him out, but I am out of ideas..

I think the best way to distract him would probably be to give him something to interact with. Some people use mirrors for a minute or so, some people use ping pong balls, some add more plants or decorations to the tank. Maybe a moss ball?

So far those are the only ones I've read on the boards. Bettas usually do tail-biting out of boredom, mis-placed aggression, and even when they are irritated. It's like a kid throwing a tantrum, :)

Well he jsut went from a bare bottom 2 gal to a big gall full of new plants to explore.. it cant e boredom... and there is nothing to be agressive about.. i do the mirror thing occasionally to stretch his fins .. Only reason I can see if stress from the move.. I wish I had a ping pong ball : P
