Hi there, on board once again and I have year plus old female veil tail betta. She has always been good and has stayed in the same 3.5 gallon filtered and heated aquarium her entire life.

Recently however, she has shown signs of aging. Lethargy, a white stripe along the base of her spine and deteriorating fins. Don’t know how to help her recover. Here’s a pic. Please help.

Does it have a filter?: Yes
Does it have a heater?:Yes
What temperature is your tank? 78•
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?: No
Does your Betta have tank mates?:No
What kind?:N/A

What food brand do you use?:
Hikari micro pellets. Omega 1 blood worms and bribe shrimp
Tetra brand betta pellets.

Do you feed flakes or pellets? Pellets
Freeze-dried? No
How often do you feed your Betta? Once a day
How much?: about ten percent of her body size

Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change?:Once a week.
What percentage of water did you change?:

What is the source of your water?:Tap water w/ API Stress Co

Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water? Gravel vacuum
What additives do you use? No additives What brand of conditioner? API Stress Coat and/or Seachem Prime

Water Parameters:
What are your water parameters? Please give exact numbers. If tested by pet store please get exact numbers. "Fine" or "Safe" won't help us help you. Important: Test your water before the regular water change; not after one.
Just did a water change. Will test in an hour for a more accurate reading?

Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms?: 2 and a 1/2 weeks ago.
How has your Betta’s appearance changed?: She has white bumps like powder and grey where her scale should be. Her fins also deteriorated.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed?
Is your Betta still eating?

Have you started treating your Betta?: Yes.

If so, how?: panicked. Water changes, about 1/2 the water. Then a week of melafix for fin rot. Got her off the melafix when I found api fin rot and body cure. Gave her a one day treatment. Decided symptoms were more in line with those of API General Cure and after giving her a few days off, began treating with General cute
Does your Betta have any history of being ill?: No. This is the first time.
How long have you owned your Betta?: A year and three months.

Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? No. I would surmise she was about six months old. Tiny though.
