Hi,
My name is Bill,I have kept fish for along-long time(not saying how long)!
I started with 3 common Guppies and a Peanut Butter jar,and it just got out of controll after they had babies!!
I have breed Angels,Dwarf Chiclids,Killies,and numerous livebearers.
I just started with Bettas about 6 months ago,I have had 2 spawns that I have given away to quite afew people,my way at getting back at the stupid Box Stores,if they want to sell them at $15.00 -$20.00 a crack,I will give the same fish away for free!
Petco loses business, people are happy to get them, and I get a free shot at Petco!!!
Right now,I am in a fued with them over thier false labeling of thier "so called" aquatic plants!!
Anyhow, enough venting,I am really glad I found this place, when I first started I would have had to read a zillion books to get the knowledge I have gotten here!!!
Really cool place and very nice and helpful people here!!!
So,thanks to all

Good to have you here, Bill. I've read some of your valuable input on other threads. Nice to have another experienced, mature contributor. Glad you're around.

( Is there an 'Old Fart' thread in the Lounge?)

Ha ha ha. Not that I know of but there are a few of us sprinkled here and there throughout the forum. Feel free to start an old fart thread if you'd like :squint:

Welcome!
To continue with this line...I'm 37, I was trying to explain to my 5yr old daughter about death and why our elderly dog had died, that it was how our natural world worked and she said, " You mean when someone gets old like you, they die?" And another time, "When I grow up and have babies, you'll be dead."
Yep, I guess when you're young, someone older might seem ancient or even prehistoric...

Thank goodness you guys have so much experience to teach us.
And I agree with Ghostfeather: I, too, am glad I found this site when I did!

I can remember when the"Don't trust anyone over 30"started!!!!
Age is all in your head(somtimes your knees, your back, your legs)!!!
You can be 58 and still be young,if you don't let it get to you!!!:p

I so agree with you! I tell my mother that all the time. you aren't old until your not moving or breathing, once you pass your expiration date your old. If your alive you shouldn't toss yourself out like old fruit. I used to be a caregiver and I took care of a 100 year old lady who bragged about how good her body looked for being a century old and birthing four babys. She still walked without a walker at her death at age 103.

That is awe inspiring!
I agree...its all in your head, so to speak...if you tell yourself that you're old, you'll start to feel old and won't be able to do things...you'll literally age before your time!
I see it with my mom all the time.
Of course some days I feel ancient and I swear my joints and feet belong to those of someone twice my age....and other days, I can keep up with 20 year old!
I'm a nurse in a nursing home, I work with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Sometimes I come across someone who believes that they are 12 years old and even though their bodies are failing, all skin and bones, arthritis in every joint...during those times they believe that they're young, will stand up and walk unaided...the human mind and soul are amazing!

Yes! Exactly...and while it can take its toll and be exhausting in every way, once you center yourself and make some boundaries, it is the most rewarding work...your soul opens up, you now have 2 families, but more...you feel honoured and humbled to take these people that need you into your heart...they can teach you so much about yourself and others...
