I need a cheap/functional hood idea, i got a tank for free with no hod, and im scared one of my 3 males will jump a divider and i am going on a 4 week vacation Saturday, and this is Monday btw, and i need to get a hood and quick... or make one... its a 30" X 12" tank its 20gallons... i just want something cheap, and ideal.

You should be able to find a cheap hood at Petco..

Glass canopy then get a strip light later on? OR, make your own. Have Lowes/Home Depot cut your glass, you could use poster framing as a frame and cut down a flixiblt piece of plastic and silicone on for a hinge?
Or, check out your local home store and see what acrylic sheets are going for.

i saw a right sized hood on Amazon, but my mom wont buy it for me... she says i have to work for it, but i don't get paid for working...

You could buy some shower mesh as a temporary fix. It's extremely cheap and would serve your purpose for the time being.

Plastic craft mesh? You could tie a couple pieces together and lay it over top of your tank. That way it's completely jump-proof but still lets in air
