I just had to ask! I have seen other posters say "he was sleeping" and I am wondering how do you know?:)

Sometimes if I am very quiet coming in late at night or in the am, the little guys will be either floating in mid water, or tucked away in some decor/plants... then when something wakes them up, they start swimming around and begging. I like when I get reeealllly close to the tanks before they wake up, they try to play it off like they were awake the whole time XD Normally during the day I can't walk into the room without some begging.

My male is a very sound sleeper, and usually will stay asleep for quite a while after I turn the lights on. He is very still, usually at the very bottom of his tank. Sometimes he is on his side, completely flat, other times he is partially propped up. He almost looks dead when he is like that, but I can see his gills moving. After a while, he wakes up and pops up to the top looking for food.
My female's belly becomes a very pale silver color when she sleeps, and she is also very still, she sleeps anywhere. She does not sleep as soundly as my male, but when she is startled awake, she is very disoriented and tends to bump into things.

I've noticed that Ahti likes to nap, wedging himself in at the bottom of his tank on the underside of his little rock formation. He stays there and just chills for about 30 minutes or so before waking up and lazily swimming around for about 5-10 minutes as he tries to get fully awake.

So now I am thinking that the mesh betta tube I got him is his bedroom, lol! No wonder bettas love their tubes! Mommmiieeee! You got me a bed!!!

Before we moved ours into the tank he was in a bowl and had this fake grass that stuck up just above the water. When he slept he would wiggle into the middle of the grass and just sit there. Now the water is too high so he usually sits at the bottom of the tank or floats right on top.

Haha, these little buggers are funny. My girl sits very still hidden by her plants. It's funny when she wakes up because she doesn't like mornings at all. She is grumpy about them

I've been thinking the same thing recently. I have only had my betta a couple of weeks, but I have yet to catch him sleeping. He's not frantic, but he doesn't sit still for long usually. In the AM it's like I finally put my glasses on and I look and there he is, staring at me. His tank is on my night stand. Lol

My female Myra usually sleeps near the top or on the rocks. Cole is often in a corner but he rearranges the rocks and sleeps in sort of like a hole.

Both are light sleepers... there was one night when Cole was so still I thought something was wrong then the next morning he was fine.

If I walk into the room they'll perk up as soon as they see me. I've tried to watch without them noticing me, not as easy as it looks.
