How do you move on from the loss of a pet?

I lost my adf today and I've been crying on and off all day. Every time I think I'm getting over it, I remember all the cute things he used to do that I will never see again and I get sad all over again. I just can't believe that he's gone after only 3 years. I never expected his death and I feel like it's my fault that he died even though I don't know why he did.
I would give anything I own to have him back. I miss him so much and it's only been 1 day. How do you get over the loss of a pet like this? I know many of you have lost bettas and other pets, so what do you do to help yourself move on? How long does it take before you are no longer sad over the loss and you can just except it? I just feel so sad right now and I don't know what to do to deal with it.

I just remember and appreciate all the cute and good things he did. You should realize that he had a great life, however short it may have been. You gave him a great home, I'm sure, and he would appreciate that a lot. My mom always tells me it is the way of life and that he got a good life.
It's good to give yourself time to cry.

Can you have a friend come over to keep you company?

When we love deeply and purely, as we often do with companiona animals, it breaks our hearts open.

May your bigger heart bring even more love into your life.
I am going through something similar right now, so I understand what you are going through.. :(

Nothing will heal your loss, but time may make it hurt less.

In the meantime, try to occupy yourself so you don't think about things too much. Company is nice to take your mind off the tough stuff.

It always hurts to lose a loved one, but it will get better, I promise. Hugs!
Thanks for all the support. I'm a pretty emotional person, so I don't deal with loss very well. I'm feeling better today, and trying to focus on appreciating all the cute things Jadis did. I'm thinking about getting another frog soon to help me feel better.
