I spend way more time with the pets in the home than with him anyway. We sit and watch movies and tv and we play a lot of games but the fish and cat and bunny require my attention. I like spending time with them. I miss having a dog because it was motivation to get out and exercise. In the 6 months that I have been without my dog I have gained all kinds of weight. I need another terrier!!! gaah! I think when I had the dog though, my bf was a bit jealous. After coming home from work or school I'd always greet the dog first, not because I don't love my bf, but because the poor dog was so attached to me and had serious anxiety issues that he needed to know things would be okay!

(end ramble!)

I'm lucky in that I have a very supportive boyfriend. He doesn't like the fish as much as I do, but he loves how passionate I am about them and how they make me smile. He will help me do PWC on the largest tank (50 gallons) and loves to play with one of my betta, Poofer, who likes to flare at everything. The only thing he doesn't support is my buying of bettas when I have no room for them, so I had to hide my most recent purchase. I got away with it for around a month. ;-)

At first I bought several and my wife didn't seem to mind... At one point she even started feeding them and reminded my kids. I sold some and gave some to friends and bought new ones... then she started to say... new fishes again? hehe... still she's supportive =D
