I bought a log for my betta to swim into, and wonder how might I safely clean it. I'm going to do a 100% water change and thought I'd clean it at the same time. How do you clean what's inside your fish tanks?

If it's real wood, just wipe it off. If it's fake and really nasty, you can use white vinegar or bleach. Just make sure the bleach is like a 1:9 ratio with water and you rinse a lot and let it air dry. If your tank is cycled, just wipe it off, don't use any cleaning agent as it will kill off the good bacteria on it.

If it's one of those floating logs, just be really gentle cleaning it no matter what method you use - I've heard reports that the paint can flake off D:
