What can I add in this tank to make it better for my betta? Am I right in thinking that he would love a lot of plants? I'm not saying he's unhappy, but I just want it to be a great home for him.

Maybe get a floating Betta log! :-D I've heard that most Betta's love them. I know my guy loves to have something he can swim in and out of, he has a hidey cave that he loves.

Thanks! He loves resting in the glass cave, and swimming under the bridge. What exactly is a hidey cave? I have a rainbow cave from walmart, but I'm not sure how much is too much to put in the tank.

In my opinion as long as they have room to swim you aren't over-crowding

I think you have a nice setup. Only thing I would suggest is maybe a few more plants, a floating betta log could be nice or maybe a leaf hammock (just please pull the metal wire out for betta safety).

Just out of curiousity, how many tetras do you have in the tank with him?

I am putting more plants in right now, and there are 6 tetras. I can't see but 2 in the picture though. They hide behind the plants.

Does anyone notice the bubbles at the top? Those aren't his are they. I never see him make a nest, yet bubbles gather at the front and around the filter input tube. I guess they're just the bubbles that the filter causes.

My betta in a 10gal has loved his floating log. Swims in and out, and sleeps in it.

Floating betta log is what people are referring to.. they love them. They love anything floating on the top to be honest. I used naturally dried/fallen oak leaves and they will build their nests under them.

Definitely a few more plants- silk is ideal for bettas.. a couple of the small spiky plants you have can easily tear their fins. The one in the middle of your picture is especially nasty at ripping fins. Have to think of their fins like wet tissue paper- easily ripped.

Your tetras will love more plants as well.. I would say a good 6 more tall-medium plants at least would make the tetras happy!

The bubbles at the front could be either from the filter or the start of a bubble nest. Difficult to say. Good luck on finding a bubble nest, though. Just remember that some boys blow smaller nests and some blow bigger nests.
