Yeah I was thinking about getting some live plants but I really do not like plants/the process of taking care of them. What benefits do the anubias have to the tank?

Plants of any kind help keep the water clean. In addition, Betta are not bright light/open water fish. Plants offer them places to rest and shaded areas. Anubias is a low-light, low-tech, no-care plant. Most of the time if they decline it's because they're getting too much light, the rhizome has been buried or they are tied too tightly and the rhizome is bruised.

That is a gorgeous setup! I'm wanting to change up Dangerous' layout, so you've given me some nice ideas!

Looking good!! Just a suggestion...it looks like the anubias is a little too far in the substrate. You don't want the rhizome buried. The roots can be to hold the plant in place

Thats what I've read but every time I didn't bury them they would float to the top.

Lookin' like a million bucks.
I would go with a digital thermometer. A digital one is easier to hide around the side of the tank and no risk of a betta hurting himself if tries to squeeze in between the metal thermometer and the glass.

I use one like this,

I find little scraps of driftwood to tie my anubias to at my LFS. I use a few loom bands to secure them.
Don't know if you can see from this pic https://i.imgur.com/Vu2cCWW.jpg but i've got a little stick on thermometer. The metal one is just a back up, don't use it when the fish it in the tank mostly cause it looks unflattering, but I did not know that they could get stuck behind it!

Last update before he gets here (only a few hours now... I can't wait :D )
Got a heater. Initially thought I wouldn't need one for summer-time Atlanta, but its always good to manually regulate the temp.

Just hope the little guy isn't DOA... I've waited a month for this
