SURPRISINGLY, I got another 10 gal (set up) yesterday, and a beautiful little (young) male Betta. I didn't think hubby would go for it, but we were in Petsmart, as I have a gift card. HE IS LOOKING AT BETTAS, and picked out a beautiful Betta- well, to decide between two very beautiful Bettas; and they have LOTS of Bettas; I told him I'd love another tank with my gift card, and he was OK with it! Today is hubby's birthday, and I GET another fish! I think Hubby is very generous, to tolerate me and all my fish!

Got new food (he is already eating very well, Betta Buffet pellets- but Larry Guerry prefers his flakes, I think, but I'll keep working on it); a new tank, and "Roatan". He is happily exploring the new space. I got the filter baffled pretty good, and lots of "hides", which he doesn't know what they are. I do need more fake plants. Pretty excited now. I think Roatan is way too cute, and so small compared to Larry Guerry! I needed another fish to obsess over, and this will be it- for a very long time, I think.

Not quite so nervous to cycle this tank, we'll see how it goes. I will test water frequently, with water changes. I had some left over Tetra Safe Start, opened and only enough to treat 10 gal. We shall see.....

He seems very healthy, keeping an eye on that fin, looks like part of fin is "missing" for some reason... we noticed it right away, before we got him and just hope it will grow back (not some deformity, right)? BUT it doesn't matter, we will love him anyways!

Pretty betta. I have read that if you already have a cycled tank you can squeeze the filter sponge/cartridge into the new one and that will start the process and should make things go quickly. When I started my 125 gal, I put the fiber part of a used cartridge in the new filter and never had a problem. I did use Prime but I'm not really sure if I needed it. I just started two 2.5 gal betta tanks yesterday and I squeezed the cartridge on the new one but I'm going to try without the Prime. I'm going to test daily to make sure everything is going well.

I can squeeze the sponge from Larry Guerry's filter, I hadn't thought of that! Thanks everyone for advice and encouragement. This sure is a fun forum. Another tank seemed out of the question, I'm very happy to obsess over my fin babies! Thank you for "listening"!
