I just noticed today that my female betta, Coral has something wrong with one side of her face. Her eye is bulging and a little cloudy and some of the scales look terrible. I have no clue what is going on and was hoping someone could please help me figure out what is wrong and how to treat her. :(



Housing:
How many gallons is your tank? 20
Does it have a filter? yes,
Does it have a heater? yes
What temperature is your tank? 78 fahrenheit
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? plants
Does your Betta have tank mates? What kind? Neons, female guppies, ghost shrimp, picasimus and hatchetfish

Food:
What food brand do you use? omega one color mini pellets
Do you feed flakes or pellets? pellets
Freeze-dried? no
How often do you feed your Betta? How much? Once a day,a few pellets

Maintenance:Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change? once every other week
What percentage of water did you change? 1/3-1/2
What is the source of your water? tap water
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water? vacuum
What additives do you use? What brand of conditioner? Seachem prime

Water Parameters:

Ammonia: n/a
Nitrite: n/a
Nitrate: n/a
pH: n/a
Hardness (GH): n/a
Alkalinity (KH): n/a

Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms? Today
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? On the one side of her face her eye is bulging a little, there is a small mark under it, and some of her scales look like they are coming off.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? not much
Is your Betta still eating? yes
Have you started treating your Betta? No, I dunno what is wrong or what to use.
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? no
How long have you owned your Betta? March 3, 2019
Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? no

That looks like popeye but.. hard to see.

Do you have a water test kit? Can you take it somewhere such as LFS to test?

WC every other week is a little infrequent. Might want to consider increasing those.

I don't, ran out and still waiting for the ones I ordered to come in. Should hopefully be here in the next day or two. Ok, what do you recommend? Once a week or more for water change? When I get home I will try to get a better pic. She hates when I try to get pictures lol! If it is popeye do you have any recommendations for what to treat her with?

I also forgot to add that she eats bloodworms and brine shrimp at the top.

Thank you! She is doing wonderful, thank goodness! I am very attached to my little Coral, so I am VERY relieved. Her face and eye are pretty much back to normal. She has a tiny red spot under her eye, but it is just about gone. I will attach some pictures I took today! =)
