This is my fish Draco after I found him dead when I got home from work today. I noticed today that he wasnt eating and was very lethargic. I also noticed this area on his side that looks like a chunk was taken out, of course this picture was taken tonight when I found him. :-( To be clear, I have no divider in this tank and no other fish were with him. No I do not fight my fish. He has a plant and a house that looks like Squidwards house from Spongebob, and typical glass rocks. I can only think he got stuck on his little house but I checked it before I bought it... it had no sharp corners, thats why I bought it in the first place.

Does anybody know of any diseases that may look like this? Or what may have happened? This all literally happened since this morning.
I would really like to know wtf happened to my fish... Im hurt and angry, mainly at myself because I have no idea.. please help me out. :(

IT looks like an injury to me. One of my girls was like that, I just assumed she had been attacked by one of my other girls.

My other thought is that it might have been bacterial. Fair warning, this picture is graphic. There was yellow around the wound, reminds me of an infected wound. http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr218/Elis77/temporary-84.jpg?t=1332323150

I hope someone can give you better answers.

looks bacterial to me, because of the yellowing around it... yellowing however, can also mean dead tissue. Is the filter (existent) strong? has he gotten stuck in a gravel siphon before? check inside the house for ANY odd spots that are raised or sticking out.

However, I had one betta who had a flesh eating bacteria that slowly disintegrated the skin on his jaw, until you saw his teeth and bone. I euthanised him, and sanitized EVERYTHING twice over, to avoid ANY trace, and even through out rocks...

But if it weren't bacterial, it looks like it was rubbed raw.

Would it be safe to rub everything in sanitizer so I can have another fish in it though? I don't want to have my fish get sick from it.. Im gonna put one of my others in this tank because its bigger.

vinegar is the gentler form of bleach :) since I am allergic (and a wimp to use bleach) I use vinegar and it hasn't failed me. Just like bleach and hot water mix, rinse VERY well.. I tend to rinse a few times to make absolute sure =D
