I'm going to put my bettas in a bowl

I made a very cool setup for my 4 betta tanks (2 tanks, 2 bowls) (empty) but what's a tank without fish?

So I posted a pic on IG and then I got hate. People said even if a bowl is filtered and heated it's still bad. I understand it doesn't provide much surface area, fortionatly bettas are labrinth lung. They also said it will disort the fish's view and kill it from stress.

My comeback was that it doesn't really matter the shape of the bowl, as long as it can maintain clean, warm water is fine. I mean, they are both just different shapes of glass.

The tanks are also large.
Cube tank: 1.5G
Bowl: 2G
Drum Bowl: 2.5G
Hex tank: 3G

Each one can confortly hold a betta. I mean they are a lot better than a bowl.

Right now I have all my bettas in tanks, but I had 4 extra bowls lying around, so I just wanted to put them to good use. Any Imput? Would they be fine if they can maintain stable temp and parameters?

This is from my own experience using bowls for my bettas at first. I never had heaters or filters for the bowls, but I would clean them every other day. They were about 1 gallon each and had a large surface area for the most part. I was mostly having them in bowls because I believed that my parents didn't want cords and tanks everywhere in the house and that I couldn't care for them myself. I continued to have them in bowls until I designed our birds room into our "pet room" making it suitable to have a large tank and 2 smaller tanks. I moved the females into the large tank and put one of each of the males into the 2.5 tanks. For me, I never really saw a difference in their happiness. They were just as active as they were in the bowls. I do still have one that lives in a bowl, but this rare case is because he likes his bowl. I did try having him in a tank but he was not happy. He got upset at the filter, he couldn't find his snail friend Snelly, and he was just down right frustrated. If you feel they are happy in the bowls and you have given them the most care you can provide at this time, I say the bowls are okay. I would suggest adding a live plant to give them a bit more natural feel. I have Anubias on rocks for all my boys and they love laying on the large leaves. I know others will disagree with me about bowls, but in the end, it is your choice.

Just an artist/designer suggestion, I would swap the white tank with the blue bowl on the bottom shelf. That way you have alternating colors and add a bit of difference to the shelves.

I honestly also do not see a difference between a 2.5 gallon tank and a 2.5 gallon bowl..... if their temperature is controlled.
A bit off topic, but; what is IG??

The blue one is color changing!! It goes through a rainbow. But great idea.
I've seen people keep larger bowls successfully. I've seen people with big 4 gallon bowls that they heat and filter and I thought they looked really cool. Honestly, I wouldn't use the smaller ones. If it holds 2.5 gallons or over i'd be fine using it myself. Not sure about the distortion thing though.

I was one of the people who believed the pet store and had my boy in a 1- 1.5 gallon bowl at first. Then once I learned better I got him into a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater. He was so much more active in there than in the 1.5g and he was even more active when I got him into a 5 gallon. I have both my boys in 5 gallons now and they love the space. I would never go back to anything under 2.5 gallons.

I keep plants in my old smaller tanks that are too small for fish. I plan on moving my lucky bamboo into a small 1 gallon that I still have from when I was a kid. And I plan on using the 1.5 gallon for either marimo or maybe some succulents.
I think smaller bowls and tanks are just fine for bettas, as long as they are heated and can maintain their temperature without huge fluctuations. I had a crowntail once that HATED anything over a half gallon :/ He loved swimming around in his little heated thing, but if you put him in anything else, he'd clamp up and lay at the bottom without eating. Every betta has its own comfort level I guess. They should be fine in the tanks/bowls you have ^^
I'm fine with bowls as long as they are big enough. Even unfiltered as long as they are heated and kept clean I don't see an issue
I've never kept mine in a bowl, but the front of the aqueon minibow is curved much like a bowl would be. Yes, there is a tiny bit of distortion, but it doesn't seem to bother my fish at all. As long as it was heated, and big enough, I don't see how it could be a problem. Many ppl have filtered, but I've seen many who do unfiltered. And a bowl could easily have a weighted little sponge filter making it a filtered fairly easily.
I keep two of my boys in bowls, 3 and 5 gallon respectively. They're heated and sponge filtered. The walstad bowl is water changed monthly, and the other which is planted but not dirted is changed weekly. Prior to heaters and filters, they were decidedly unhappy, but with the filtration and heating, as well as an interactive environment such as you get with planted tanks and or small tank mates it is just as good as any cube shaped similar tank in my experience.
TO be honest, I think it has a lot to do with each individual Betta and their personalities. One Betta may do really well in a bowl, another may not. If they seem active, healthy and happy in the bowls, and you are heating them and cleaning them appropiately, then I see absolutely no problem with it. I would definitely give them some nice live plants though, like was mentioned by another person.
You know when I got Sabastian *God rest his soul* I only began with a one gallon, heated and plenty of air in there. But I moved him to the 10 he was in *fish heaven* so to speak.
