because of my newest betta. I was feeling very sorry for him, because he was one of the only two healthy bettas there. The rest were showing signs of fin rot, or Swim bladder disorder. And he was just looking at me. We had to go home, but once we got home, we dropped my mom off, and my dad drove back to Petsmart. We arrived there about ten minutes before it closed, and he was still there. so we brought him home. He was labeled as a crown tail dragon scale male, but I don't know whether that's true. I know he's not a crown tail though. I also need name ideas. My sister wants him to be Pearl, and I'm thinking Dragon, troll, or Opal. so, here he is! Does any one know what he is?(Sorry if the photos aren't very goo. I had two cats sitting on me, one of which actually weighs more than a lynx at the Alaska Zoo!) And I can apparently only upload one photo at a time, as my computer is being slow. I'll add more photos in the next post.

He doesn't always look this blue, only in certain lights. The second photo is more accurate, but a bit fuzzy.
Beautiful boy! Looks like a marble delta to me, definitely no a crowntail or a dragon lol. As for a name, how about something that means dragon? Like Draco, Tatsu, Ryu, or Drake?
How about Pearl Dragon? What a great dad you have there :)
Thanks! I didn't know what he was, an I have learned not to trust the pet store's labeling after a fully grown male betta was labeled as a baby. I like Draco, but my sister doesn't because of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter books. I also like Pearl Dragon, so I will have to suggest that to my sister.
Well, my sister didn't like Pearl Dragon("He has to be just Pearl"), but she did suggest that we could name him Smorg.
My mom stepped in. He has now been name Alexrodi Pearl. Alexrodi is part of the scientific name for Cardinal Tetra, and Pearl for my sister.
That's an awesome name! My friend wanted to name her fish something similar to 'dragon,' but all she could think of was Draco like Draco Malfoy. She settled for Drache, which is German for dragon I believe.
Thanks. Drache is also a really nice name. So far since I've put Alexi in his new tank, he has flared. built a bubble nest, and several very tiny snails in his tank have gone missing. He also doesn't recognize his pellets as food.
Wrongly labeled cups- ha! Same thing happened to me. I bought a baby betta that had a delta cover on it- the individuals running the register tried to charge me for him as a delta! I had to insist that it was indeed a baby~ Anyway, I'm pretty sure there are many people who "switch" the tops around to get a cheaper price. Since they certainly wouldn't check properly at my local store >.>

I think that people do that too! Someone put have wanted a crowntail for about for dollars instead of ten. I just hope that the did that because the other betta was sick and they wanted to spend the extra money rescuing him. But I don't mind. He is a really sweet betta, despite the fact that he cost as much as the fish I brought from a proper fish store! (Don't tell Neptune, but I think I like Alexi more than I like him!)
Is stunning, I'm glad you got him
Thanks! I am too. (But I can't say the same for my sister. "You already have seven!")Here's another slightly better photo of him-
One of him hiding-
And one of his bubblenest-
I like how his blue eyes against his black face make him look perpetually shocked.

I know. It looks really funny. I wonder why he has blue eyes when my others don't?

Actually, it was sort of a shame that I got him, as I had other ideas for that tank. I was going to put a female and neon tetras in there, but I like Alexi. And he's much happier in his ten gallon tank than I think tetras would have been! And the white fuzz I saw on his face cleared up. And he get's to flare at his girlfriend(By his tank) all day long. I think that's why he built a bubblenest.
I live in alaska to!

I live in alaska to! i live in anchorage what store did you get kicked out of???:-?
You could still put some tetras with him in a 10 gallon. ;-)
I know how you feel. I have two slots left in my divided tank so I decided to go over to petsmart just to see what they had. I'm really picky when it comes to choosing my fish, so I was looking at all of them. In the very back was this beautiful dragonscale crowntail; he seemed very healthy but there was seriously black stuff in the bottom of his cup. I'm guessing it was some kind of fungus but it reminded me of mold.. I ALMOST got him too but I was afraid whatever was in his cup would make it's way into my tank and harm my other boys. I really want to go back and save him from that nastiness</3
Wow, this thread got back up! So, I'll reply to everyone!

Khloe- Wow, that's.. creepy. I didn't get kicked out of the store by my store, just my parents. And the ban has gone for all fish stores, but I got Alexi from the one from one which is relatively near to the park with a rocket in it.

Flint-That's a nice idea. I've been thinking of dividing his tank, so I can put more males in, reduce the tanks I own, and make them easier to heat. I do want to put tetras in with another male. as I think he'll be happier with other bettas to flare at then with other fish!

Tigger1027- I think lots of people feel this way as well. I'm not that picky about what type of betta I get, though this is the first betta I have ever owned with no read on hi. And he does have a slightly pinkish face.
And I would vote for rescuing that betta.

platylover13- Thanks! I've basically labeled him as pet store betta type, as he's slightly odd. But I love him!
