I have a male and female in 10gal divided and they seem to enjoy flirting with each other, but not too much or aggressively. I recently added some live plants and in the tank re-arrangement there's not as many visual barriers at the divider. Now she's showing vertical stripes. She's very stripy in general, as she will let you know quickly if she's stressed (with horiz stripes).
I will not be breeding them. And she's not 'eggy' right now. And neither appear distressed. I've had good experience so far with pairing male and female in divided 10gals, but she's the first one i've had with vert striping.
Is there any danger to her in this setup, given that she's showing some signs of readiness to breed and I don't plan to breed them? I don't mind if she releases unfert eggs (and eats them
) but is that stressful to the female?
Thanks-
