Can a betta live a healthy life atop a tv set? Does the set emit anything harmful to the fish? Thanks.

Not if you value the tv..
The tv won't emit anything other than heat, which will mess around with the temperature too much.

Somehow water and sensitive electronics just don't seem like a good mix to me. I wouldn't do it. If you're running out of places to put bettas, you can buy sturdy bookcases from thrift stores.

It will also stress out the fishy because of the vibrations of sound going from the tv through their water ;o

(Also, walmart has a 5 foot book case for sale at $30!)

Zackybear, Yeah I just thought of that today. My tv is very large. I don't think it really is a matter of having water sitting on top of it as the surface area is quite large. Currently I have a pretty good size plant, my phone, and a couple other items on it. I set my hand on top of it today wondering how warm it would be and I felt the vibrations from the sound. Thought that would really vibrate through the water. I don't think I'll put any fish on it. Thanks
