I baffled the filter on my 5 gallon with the bottle method so the water comes out to the side. Well Bubbles has spent hours swimming around the back of the tank where the water seems to be flowing. I would think if he didn't like it he'd be hiding somewhere but it is weird from what I've read about how they don't like a current. He seems to be riding it. How would I know if I should baffle it a different way. Is it okay for him to be swimming continuously for hours on end? Oh and the filter is still moving the water around a bit on top but not as rough so maybe I haven't done it right.

I swear he did the swimming around the current in the back all night and is doing it now too. He only stopped long enough to eat. Just goes up and down in an oval around the back of the tank riding the filter current. I'm thinking of trying a sponge baffle but I don't know if it'll upset him but the bottle one makes me a little nervous since he's swimming really close to the back underside part of it and I don't want him to catch his fins on it.

Well I took it off completely to see how he'll do. I'm running to the pet store after it opens to pick up some sponges. I hate to upset him if he was really enjoying it I think the sponges will be safer.

I just have a crazy fish. I replaced the bottle baffle with a sponge baffle and the fish is now swimming in a circle up and down through where the current is now going. Its going pretty much straight down out of the filter. I give up. I would really like him to come to the front of the tank a little but maybe he just needs to get his fill of current swimming. At least he's safer. I also put a prefilter on the intake tube since he's always near that in his swimming.

So I tried to get a video of him playing in the back and what does he do when he notices the camera. Swim right up to it and show off. Not flaring but swimming like a crazy fish. He doesn't just come up for me it was definitely the camera. I tried it 2 times and both times he came right up. After the camera goes away he goes right back to the swimming he's been doing for hours and hours. How can you not fall in love with these fish?
