King betta find at petsmart

A few days ago, I made a trip to buy a heater for my sick betta friend. While there, one betta caught my eye. He was very big, a lot bigger than the other bettas around him. A king betta, I thought. He didn't seem too active, and I couldnt even see what color he was because the water conditioner that petsmart uses made the water a very dark blue. I took a chance, and bought him, along with a heater for him too.

I didn't want to stress him out with pictures at first, so I've let him settle down for a few days in his new home. He's now active, happy, and eating well.

I got really lucky with him, I think

He is partially dragon scale, and has red and black and blue on him.

He is still unnamed, so if you have any suggestions, that would be great!

I really love him. I didn't know petsmart had king bettas? but he wasnt labeled king betta either.

Neither did I

Maybe he could have been put in the wrong shipment or he just had larger genes then his siblings, but he is still an amazing find

He is a Giant betta, king is just petcos marketing name, I have a few giant, they are really fun fish to have and they are always hungry

Do you know how old he possibly could be? Because if he is still able to breed, I may be interested in breeding him. I love his colors.

I work for Petsmart. A lot of the time king bettas come in listed as dragon scales. I've no idea why.
And I hate that water conditioner. We don't use it, our suppliers do. I have the water changed in the betta cups as soon as they arrive in my store.
