Ammonia: 0.0
Nitrite: 0.0
Nitrate: 5.0
pH: 6.6
Hardness (GH): Unknown
Alkalinity (KH): Unknown
Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms? One month ago, but more extreme changes in the last few days
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? Less vibrant, fins began to compress (I posted photos a while back and was assured that it was not fin rot). She gradually became more and more listless. Today, when she re-emerged from her burrow, her head was light colored, where it used to be black.
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? Less and less active over the last few days, culminating in her burrowing and hiding under a large log in the tank for a day and a half. We assumed that she had died, and I was preparing to remove her from the tank, when she reappeared suddenly today. She has been jerking around a bit, swimming awkwardly. She would flare her fins out only when she wanted to move, and only briefly. Now she is resting on the bottom of the tank.
Is your Betta still eating? No.
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? No. She went missing, and we assumed she was dead.
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? No.
How long have you owned your Betta? 6 months
Was he or she ill or suffering some sort of damage when purchased? Not that we could see.
