Regarding glass canopies: does the spectrum of the lights get filtered out/diminished when put on top of the canopy? I can't seem to find the answer on the web. I know from using full spectrum lights on houseplants that you don't normally put anything between the light and the subject. Thank you.

As I said any other tank except an Aqueon tank, The MarineLand Perfecto will fit. Most tank manufactures do not make a glass canopy for their tanks. Aqueon is the only maker tat makes one for their tank and their tanks alone. Perfecto are universal.

You will get a reduction in the PAR value using the glass (about a 8% - 10% reduction) if you keep the glass clean. The green tint on the glass will filter out some red and blue from the light but there will be sufficient of the most important 660nm red and UVA and B making its way down to the plants. While these values are not provided in the light manufacturer's promotional material, they are factored in by aquarists for practical use since the lights are made to run over a canopy and with some lights, not having a canopy will void the warranty.

You're not running high tech so any of the lights recommended would be more than sufficient to support the plant growth.
