I have read on hear that Oak leaves are good to use for tannin. I have a question whether Live Oak leaves can be used for the same purpose. We have several of these trees in our yard, and I was wondering if they could be used.

Yes. I previously used live oak leaves for my Betta tanks until the amount supplies was low and I wasn't able to get the optimal amount anymore. Now I use a different type of oak

Oak leaves are a great tannins source...you want to collect leaves that have naturally dried and fallen from the tree....you don't want to pluck them off the tree or use green leaves since in large amount they can become toxic....just natural dried and fallen to the ground......

Oak, almond, and maple leaves, when naturally fallen and dried are great sources for tannins.

As long as they haven't touched anything that's treated with fertilisers/chemicals/etc., they'll work great =]

I even have mopani wood that still releases tannins, my betta is always happy, so that is another option.

ahhh...I didn't even think of mopani wood. I can get that here as well. Thank you for the information
