My newest betta, Frankie is very active and happy but I've never seen him flare! I've tried everything from holding a mirror up to him and showing him pictures of other bettas but he just studies them, he doesn't flare. Does anyone know why? How can I get him to flare

Some bettas just don't flare. Its nothing to be concerned about.

I thought my betta didn't flare, until I figured out a few days ago that all this time I had been holding the mirror too far away from the glass.


I pressed the mirror against the glass and he started showing off immediately.

Try a sharpie pen. My king never flares at reflections but he goes crazy over pens.
