I just purchased my first baby betta from Petco. I am pretty sure it is too early to tell the gender, but could anyone give some input? All of you on Betta Chat may be better at identifying features than I am.

So, what do you all think? Male or female??

(This little guy is slightly under an inch, so that may give you an idea of it's age that the photos distort.)

It's too soon to tell in my opinion. Wait and see what it turns into.

Judging by the anal fin, I think its a VT female. Gorgeous colour! Can't wait to see her after the stress stripes go.

I'd say female too. She has a feminine face lol males have more pucker faces if that makes sense. And her anal fin is quite boxy to be male.
