Hello!
First of all, I am horrible at these things. I've always had a hard time with introductions. I mean, I know me better than anyone else so it's hard to knock it all down to a few clean paragraphs without going into too much details. I guess the first thing people should know about me? I like to talk, a lot. A LOT.
So... I'm Donna and I live in Atlantic Canada. I'm 27 and around here they call me Mom. My two wonderful babies are 3.5 years old and 20 months. Kaleb is a rough and tumble hyper active healthy boy that keeps me on my toes, Leah is learning from her older brother and following in the same footsteps! I am out numbered most days, but thankfully my love and appreciation for two wonderful children helps me cope with the shenanigans they come up with. They won't be small forever. I've always been the mothering type, the little girl with a million teddy bears and baby dolls, my most memorable Christmas gift as a child was a stroller for my dolls. And yes, they all fit in there at once. I was heartbroken if I couldn't include every single doll. And now today, I try my hardest to include everyone in my care in whatever I am doing.
A little about me? I'm shy, no seriously. I love to talk but I am very opinionated. I stand by my friends and my beliefs. I have a short temper, but I see shades of grey in all situations. I'm compassionate, I love everyone I know with all I have. I get hurt easily, most days I don't have much self worth. I suffer from Anxiety and Panic attacks, the world outside my home scares me. BUT, I do go out, I push myself and it gets better every day. I'm an animal lover, I love to sew for my critters, I'm really good with music, and someday I hope to be a nurse.
About me and my fish keeping? I got my first tank when I was 8 years old. A 10g with 2 regular goldfish (this was the early 90's). After one of my goldfish killed the other and then died of Columnaris, my Mother bought us 2 black Moors. We had those fish for a year until my Mother decided to put candy Easter eggs in a sealed bag and hid them in the tank for our Egg Hunt. After that, she decided no more fish until we could take care of them, not her haha
In 2003, I bought a 1g tank for a small female Betta that came into the pet store by accident (in a Cichlid order, possibly feeder food?). I took her home, she lived with me for over a year. I really enjoyed having Angel in my home.
Flash forwards to 2005, after winning a small amount of money, my then boyfriend told me to buy myself the one thing I always wanted. So, I bought a fish tank. 29g with stand and all the trimmings. I went through so many types of fish that first 3 months. I ended up having 1 Pleco and 5 Silver Dollars that made it through my learning experience. I had those fish for 2 years, until one day my then boyfriend tried to help out and sprayed the inside of the tank with Windex by mistake. I was not home, but woke up the next day to all my fish gone
After that, I decided no more fish.
Along with the fish in the above tank, I lost my first male Betta, Joey. Joey was the last Betta sold at our local WalMart. The very last. He was a grey little lump in his tiny cup, and turned into a beautiful pure Yellow VT. Sadly, I lost him in the Windex accident as well.
In April of this year, we decided to look into getting a fish tank once we moved to our new apartment. I ended up taking in 2 Danios and a 5g tank, upgraded them to a 10g that had 2 Swordtails and a Common Pleco. We bought a 29g for all the fish to share... and that's where it started. Currently we have a 29g with community fish, a 15g sorority, and various smaller and divided tanks for our male Bettas.
To wrap this all up, I'm really a nice person with good intentions. I am the true "best friend of worst enemy" but I forgive easily. I may not get along with everyone, but I do try
And for the heck of it... here's me
