Hello,
My betta has a patch on his head, it appears that maybe scales are missing? I'm not sure as I am new to betta keeping.


Housing:
How many gallons is your tank? 8
Does it have a filter? Yes
Does it have a heater? Yes
What temperature is your tank? 78/25.5
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? No
Does your Betta have tank mates? What kind? No

Food:
What food brand do you use? Tetra tropical granules
Do you feed flakes or pellets? Granules
Freeze-dried? No
How often do you feed your Betta? How much? 3 granules per day

Maintenance:
Before your Betta became ill how often did you perform a water change? Only had him for 3 days, have done a 20% water change
What percentage of water did you change? 20%
Do you vacuum the substrate or just dip out water? Vacuum
What additives do you use? Stress coat +

Water Parameters:
What are your water parameters? Please give exact numbers. If tested by pet store please get exact numbers. "Fine" or "Safe" won't help us help you.

Ammonia: less than 0.5 mg/L
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH: 7.3
Hardness (GH):
Alkalinity (KH):

Symptoms and Treatment:
When did you first notice the symptoms? Today
How has your Betta’s appearance changed? Light patch on head
How has your Betta’s behavior changed? No
Is your Betta still eating? Yes
Have you started treating your Betta? If so, how? No
Does your Betta have any history of being ill? Don't know
How long have you owned your Betta? Was he or she a rescue? 3 days from pet shop

He is still very active, I have added a small amount of ph down to attempt to achieve ph 7

Not sure if there's anything wrong :-(

REally need a better picture. but my blue guy recently started changing color on his head...like he is losing his pigment.

From everything I read do not use the ph up or down stuff....it is no good.
