I'm torn between getting a crowntail or a female. I'll be heading off to WalMart to save a life this week to buy a plant for them and to buy my newest finned friend, but before I get there, I want to know which cups to lift. I don't want another veil tail as I have two already (bought because their water was so disgusting). Mom said I should just grab the dirtiest cup and go like I did the other two (and scored with them). I guess I just want a couple opinions about the two I want before I settle on one. So far, I like the look of crowntails and I like the idea of getting a possibly quirky female with a personality that really fits me. Any opinions?

Personally...I think the best fish that you can get is the one that really gets your attention first. Don't decide over the 2...just let the fish pick you!! (Unless if you have really wanted a female OR if you really wanted a crowntail...then get which one you desire the most!!) It's my experience when I set out to find a particular fish I almost NEVER come home with a fish anywhere close to that and I have never been disappointed!! :) Good Luck!!

Thanks XD That's how I got Chess. I just stopped by the bettas and I got interested in all the pretty colors. I was used to WalMart's selection of either veil tails, crowntails, or maybe a female. There were Elephant Ears, Delta Tails, Halfmoons, Dragonscales (no VTs that I could see)...and then there was little Chess, sitting next to a crowntail I nicknamed Blood and Steel (since I was torn between them). I walked out with Chess X3

I love females and their personalities. but at the same time males are amazing as well. I picked up two "Females" from walmart a few weeks ago. They ended up being really nice plakat males one of which was cellophane with white scaling on his back like Samarai coloration, now his fins have turned black, he's getting blue creeping up his spine and he has red in his dorsal fin. He screamed at me until I bought him lol.

Go with who you feel speaks to you more.

Turns out I got a female, a crowntail, and a veiltail for my brother. Sam is the boy (he's red, white, and blue), and Ember Phoenyx is my girl. X3 For some reason, it won't let me post pictures, but when I can, I'll share
