Its a nice tank but very sterile. Will you be adding any gravel or plants to it? I think your Betta would like some places to explore and hide. What about a place for him to rest?

Betta's like places to explore and hide! It's a nice tank - just fill it up with some things to keep your beautiful fish entertained

Thanks k foster the issue is cleaning the decorations is hard including gravel

Also I have this baby for 4 months now I don't want what happend to my last betta to him

I did give my last betta a decoration I washed it and I put it on the bowl he died! So now I am super scared to add anything he is never bored he swims around and I keep him entertained

Oh I see. Well don't let that scare you... There are a lot of safe decorations out there!

What did you put in the last time?

I'm sure if you do a little bit of quick research you'd be able to find something very safe for him.

You can't go wrong with live plants!! I also really love using coffee mugs/shot glasses, or terra cotta pots! Super cheap, super safe!!

It's nice just to give them little hidey spots. I think it's cute because they're usually nervous about going in there and then they get all brave and try it out! Haha

you're thinking the decor gave your fish rot? I'm not following what your fear is... maybe we can help some. I personally don't think a betta can be happy without a place to hide/explore...

It's nit f in rot I fear but bacteria

Fin rot comes from bacteria in the water ( not the good bacteria needed to change ammonia) but from lack of water change. If your tank has no filter than bad bacteria builds up quickly and affects your fish by eating away at the fins and body. It doesn't come from decor. In my 5 Gal. tank that Harry calls home I have Gravel, and plants he likes to hide in. I have a power filter Which gives me three types of filtration. Bio, Chemical, and Manual. I check my water quality at least weekly, and I make 25% water changes once a week, and I change the water 100% once a month. When I do this I clean all the plants and wash the gravel. I never use any kind of soap Just good hot water. I clean the plants by hand and use an old tooth brush to brush all the algae off the plants. While Harry is out of his tank he is in a bowl that has clean treated, and warm water (same temp as his tank) in it. when I finish cleaning He and the water go into his clean tank. I have had Harry for going on 2 years now and have never had any problems. He loves the tank and loves to explore. When I put all the plants back in I change the positions of the plants making Harry think there are new places to explore.
And yes after posting this I may go a little crazy and overboard but I have a very happy and healthy fish.

Well I think everyone is going to give you the same advice, so it's up to you in the end.

I don't think putting a little cup in there would hurt anything. And all you have to do is rinse it with hot water when you do your water changes....

I know you said you are nervous about adding anything in the tank with him. I have seen a lot people have no gravel at the bottom for easy cleaning and just having fake plant and a hiding spot. Maybe try that idea out for a bit so it will be easier to clean and take care of?

did you use soap to clean the decor the last time your betta died? I know soap can kill any fish.

Thanks tree! No I never used soap I rinsed off the decoration it was a tree hammock then I put it in he was agitated then suddenly died I dunno if it was the tree hammock or something different but I am not taking chances

Thanks yes it is but now coral has been with me for four months now so I am happy I am glad that coral likes the new tank

There is nothing to explore. Won't take him long. If you are that worried about bacteria, buy a brand new coffee mug and boil it. heck, buy 2 and swap them out at every water change and boil the one not in the tank. Make sure they are glass as glass is particularly hard for bacteria to grow on, and it totally non porous so bacteria can't get IN it. That way he has a place to hide, and no bacteria can grow on your cup. You can do the same with glass stones. Buy enough to cover the bottom twice, put half in the tank, and every time you do 100% change, boil what is in the tank, and replace with the sterile ones that are already boiled. I know you are paranoid, but imagine living in a room with no furniture and no decor. That's what your betta is dealing with.
You can probably even find blown glass decor (make sure it is safe to be boiled and the color is IN the glass, not painted on) for your tank. Boil to sterilize, let cool, and put in tank. Boil at every water change.
(My husband is a biologist and my sister is a nurse, so I am well aware of how to sterilize things to keep bacteria growth at bay. Both have said this would work)
