His name is Russel, and he is a red, viel tail betta. He is so adorable! Anything I should tell her? It has been so long since I had a betta, now I have a bloodthirsty gerbil.

I would definitely refer her here - that way, she can check her basic set-up (heater, filter, tank size, decorations, cleaning schedule, food etc) and ask any questions she may have.

What tank set-up does she have?

I believe it is a 1 gallon tank. I can post a picture of it.
She also has a fake plastic plant in there, purple rocks, and a large rock thing. Russel looks mighty comfy in his tank, and he has no stress stripes.

Wow...he kind of clashes with that plant.

The most important things are to mak sure she has a heater and is keeping the tank between 78 and 82F, and that she is doing the necessary water changes (1 50% and 1 100% per week).
