I'm new to this forum, and I also wanted to tell you all about my 'little friend'.
Little friend, (yes that is his name.) is a turquoise crowntail betta. He has a black head, red ventral fins (if thats the name for the two fins that hang down just past his head) and red on his tail!. He swims on the side of the tank that i am closest to, swims all the time, (accept for when the lights are off, nap time, where he lies and sleeps under a plant.) He eats betta pellets and mosquito larvae and tropical fish food.
PHOTO TIME!
'How it came to be' :L
I first thought that Siamese Fighting Fish were just lazy and boring, as they sat there all day in the pet store, looking like they are dead.
My sister wanted one, and picked hers out from the small (and very expensive) pet store. I knew nothing about them, but I decided to buy one, 'in the moment' kind of decision.I looked at them all, they were mainly veil tails, but there was this little dude on the lower shelf, in the back that just caught my eye, I knew he was the one.I bought all that the pet store owners said I needed. They said he'd be fine in those little tanks.after a week, and after doing a bit of research, that little tank was actually really bad for my fish.I found a 14L tank at a larger, and cheaper pet store, which knew a little more then the other shop. which he just loves, bought silk plants and bought 3 neon tetras to be his friends.I didn't realize, but the neon tetras are fin nippers and they did stress out and all die within three weeks. and i realised, the last one got bored and started eating my bettas tail.
