Below is a picture of my girlfriend's betta fish named Fieri. She noticed he looked like he had some sort of growth. First, she thought it was a fungus, so she gave him a treatment of Methylene Blue, but it only got worse. When she inspected the growth again, she saw that it was eating him, and he had the white spots pictured below, with debris (not Saprolegnia) hanging from them. This prompted her to cycle the water & then began treating him with Furan-2 and KanaPlex. After a few days, it seemed like it stopped progressing, but I'm wondering, what are those white spots? Is that what's eating him? I couldn't find any other pictures of betta fish that have these inside a wound. Any ideas or insight is appreciated. Thanks!

We ask that members fill out this form before advising. Without the information we'd just be guessing and can do more harm than good. Thank you.
